Passions of Baltas Miskas

First and foremost Baltas Miskas is a retailer.

But there are other, less visible, but personally important initiatives that we do which veer off retail and commerce altogether. Collectively they might be called Baltas Miskas' passion projects.

For instance, we routinely consult newly founded labels and designers looking forward to starting their commercial activities. We gain nothing by doing that because many of them won't even be found in Baltas Miskas. But the sense of contributing to the progress of someone striving to create beauty makes the effort worthwhile. 

In the same vein, we maintain a list of interesting Baltic designers. Most of their products also can't be found in our stores, but we compile and publicize the list regardless to highlight the surprising diversity of visions and products existing in our small domestic market. You may find the list containing more than two hundred names here.

We spend hours every week to create a non-commercial, optimism infused weekly newsletter meant to inspire. It tends to be quite long. In it, we share what enchanted us this week. You will find products, a piece of literature, a design object, architecture, and a sightseeing location. You can see the latest issue here or simply go and subscribe.

Or the occasional events that we organize in our store. For example, we've had a yoga club meeting discussing mindfulness, a gourmet chocolate degustation, makeup class. These have little to do with retail and didn't convert into commercial gains, but we do appreciate and enjoy the opportunity to interact with our community in different circumstances and get to know them better.

We'd like to attract your attention to these activities because we find them meaningful. The overarching theme uniting all mentioned above is our pursuit to contribute to the further evolution of the local design and fashion ecosystem. Join us!
