We have analyzed the pricing of natural fiber sweaters made by known Lithuanian brands.
Let us begin with a bit of context.
Lithuania has an ancient knitting tradition. Knitting was cultivated as a small-scale craft for centuries and was developed industrially during the twentieth century. Within the last ten years, accrued knowledge took on a new shape as the plethora of independent knitwear brands.
These new brands offer a broad range of knitwear. While manufacturing is commonly domestic, raw materials and yarns arrive from all over the world.
At Baltas Miskas we represent some of the most successful Lithuanian brands to have emerged within the past decade. We looked at the average retail price of their sweaters.
Here are the top three most popular natural fiber sweaters.
- The most affordable are sheep wool sweaters. The average price for a 100% woolen sweater is 130 euros.
- Merino wool is a highly desirable and popular yarn. The average retail price of a Merino wool sweater is 150 euros.
- The most expensive fabric is cashmere. On average, a Cashmere sweater costs 290 euros.
Yarn is the primary factor affecting the price. And although we offer many other, often more affordable, options, there is a noticeable shift in our customers and the brands towards natural, high-quality fabrics.
With ever-rising awareness about sustainability, we expect to see more brands focus on durability by adopting higher-quality natural fabrics in their collections. These changes, in turn, might lead to higher prices.
